The next version of the Macintosh operating system is code named High Sierra and it will bring a number of new enhancements to an already amazing computing experience. Of course, as a developer, I’ve been using the OS for a number of months now as my everyday operating system. The system feels more fine tuned, uses the GPU more than past OSes to improve performance, but also introduces a new filing system named APFS, which should give our computers a real speed and technical improvement. New movie and graphic formats will be introduced in this release, which will make managing these types of media more efficient than in the past.
I’m actually considering purchasing a new machine around the end of the year to replace the 27 inch iMac on my desk, this machine being now about 5 years old and in need of a technology update. If I get lucky, there may be a iMac Pro in my future, the best machine that Apple plans to deliver to the market by years end.
